foster carers
Becoming a foster carer with Fostering Barnsley is a wonderful chance to make a positive impact on a young person’s life- and you can also level up your own personal and professional skills. We provide comprehensive training and personalised support to ensure you feel prepared and confident to begin fostering.
From the start, you'll receive all the training needed, and your learning doesn't stop there. Beyond our mandatory training, you'll have opportunities to further your knowledge and become the best foster carer you can be. All training is covered by Fostering Barnsley.

Our Commitment to Your Training
Before you can be approved as a foster carer, you'll need to attend a preparation for fostering course. None of our foster carers would start a home match without the skills they need.
First Year Support
In your first year, we'll help you complete your Training, Support, and Development Standards (TSDS) within 18 months. This will open up more opportunities to foster more children in Barnsley.
Fully Funded Diplomas
We offer a fully funded Level 3 diploma in Working with Children to support your professional development and help you care for more children in Barnsley. Receive a qualification as recognition for the work you do. These are social worker standard courses so you’ll really know your stuff!
